Pre-Concert Dinner on Vesterbro: Italian Dining Before Vega & Lille Vega

If you have tickets to a show at Vega, you already know the feeling. That build up before a concert, when the night is full of possibility and you just want to start it right.

Do not waste that feeling on a rushed meal or a sad sandwich on the way. Vesterbro is one of the best neighbourhoods in Copenhagen to eat before a show, and MaMeMi, our Italian restaurant in Copenhagen, is a two minute walk from Vega. Here is how to do your pre-concert dinner properly.

We Are Right by Vega

MaMeMi sits on the corner of Mysundegade and Istedgade, just around the corner from both Vega and Lille Vega. When your show ends, you are two minutes from having been at our table. No transport, no stress, no rush across the city.

This is one of the reasons we love our location. Vega brings incredible music to Vesterbro, and we get to be the place people eat before the night begins. It is what makes us a natural restaurant near Vega.

Timing Your Pre-Concert Dinner

Here is the practical part. Most shows at Vega have doors around 20:00, though it varies, so always check your ticket.

Our recommendation is to book your table for around 18:00 or 18:30. That gives you a comfortable hour and a half to enjoy a proper meal without watching the clock. Enough time for an aperitivo, some antipasti, a pizza, and maybe a coffee before you walk over.

If you are seeing a later show, even better. You can take your time, have a full leisurely dinner, and stroll to the venue completely relaxed.

Tell us when you book that you have a concert. We will make sure your evening is paced so you are never rushed and never late.

What to Order Before a Show

For a pre-concert dinner, you want something satisfying but not so heavy that you feel sluggish standing in the crowd.

This is where Roman style pizza is perfect. Our authentic Italian pizza has a thin, crispy base that is light. You will feel satisfied, not stuffed. The 48 hour fermentation makes it easy to digest, so you are not weighed down for the show.

Start with an aperitivo, a Negroni or a spritz to get the evening going. Share some antipasti. Have a pizza. If you want wine, Danilo can pour you a glass or two of natural Italian wine from our Italian wine bar in Copenhagen that will not slow you down.

Save the long three hour dinner for another night. Before a show, you want the perfect efficient version of an Italian evening, and we are very good at that.

After the Show

Here is a secret. Vesterbro does not go to sleep when the concert ends.

If you are still buzzing after the show and want to keep the night going, the neighbourhood is full of natural wine bars and late spots. Istedgade and nearby Kødbyen, the Meatpacking District, have some of the best nightlife in the city. If you live in the area, our page on pizza near Enghave Plads has more.

And if you did not get to eat with us before the show, check our hours. Depending on the night, we may still be open to pour you a glass and feed you something before you head home.

Why Vesterbro Beats Eating at the Venue

You could eat at the venue. But you already know it will be overpriced, rushed, and forgettable.

Vesterbro gives you the real Copenhagen. A proper meal, in a real neighbourhood, made by people who care. You get an actual experience before the music instead of just filling your stomach.

That is what we offer at our Italian restaurant on Vesterbro. Authentic Roman pizza, natural wine, and a warm Italian welcome, two minutes from your seat at Vega.
